Forums 2011 Schedule

Saturday October 29, 2011

9:00 – 9:45 am
Icing & Winter Weather Challenges
Most General Aviation pilots operate aircraft not equipped for flight into known icing. But all pilots need to know the hazards of inadvertent flight into icing conditions. At this seminar you will watch a specially prepared video by NASA about coping with and avoiding aircraft icing.
9:45 – 10:30 am
Lost and Crossed (AOPA Presentation)
For new pilots and students — ever been disoriented or lost? Even in this day of GPS it can happen. This seminar video guides you through situational awareness and how to use all the tools from ATC to VORs, pilotage, and diverting. Your speaker will discuss Dead Reckoning and Pilotage techniques to use when all else fails. Learn how valuable a sectional, compass, and clock can really be.
10:30 – 11:15 am
Pilot Fatigue
Pilot fatigue is a covers how we all get tired and don't realize the consequences
11:15 – 12:00 pm
Non-Towered Airports
Operations at non-towered airports can be a "danger zone" if pilots are not aware of the hazards that exist in this uncontrolled environment. Mixing with turbojets and light sport aircraft is challenging but can be safe if all pilots observe some simple rules. Find out what you can do to increase your safety margin.
